CONCERT NARRATION

Karsten Windt has been introducing all his chamber concerts as a narrator, moderated youth concerts for the Deutsche Symphony in Berlin and Tokyo, and was invited by pianist Mari Kodama and Maestro Kent Nagano to introduce the Forest Hill Musical Days Festival in San Francisco. At Marin Academy he was hired several times as a lecturer about the role of music during WW II, and stepped in last minute for a music appreciation event in Berkeley.

In a six-volume-DVD recording by Deutsche Welle TV with the Deutsche Symphony Berlin and Kent Nagano, Karsten was featured in a narrative passage about the 4th symphony of Johannes Brahms and acted as an orchestra representative at the press conference following the public premiere of these recordings.

With Salon Classique and The Philharmonic Kitchen in the SF Bay Area, Karsten loves to talk to the audience about the music and its background, providing stories and examples, so that no one is left behind with a repertoire that nowadays covers over 300 years of music history from early baroque until present. This is all done in an entertaining way, rather as educational entertainment, so that listeners can perceive the music profoundly and enjoy it more intensively.

At his food and music events with the Akanthus Ensemble in Berlin, Hamburg and Spain, Karsten presented stories and connections between the courses of a menu and pieces of music in a special combination, a concept that he introduced to the Bay Area and the wine country in collaboration with violist Ivy Zenoby under the title The Philharmonic Kitchen.
